CHARLES KIDWELL
LEED, GA / Senior Associate
With more than forty years of experience in architecture, Charles continues to pursue high quality, timeless design and building solutions that fully realize the client’s vision. Charles subscribes to the philosophy that architecture is a practice that provides an opportunity to participate in shaping the built environment in a positive and meaningful way.
His outlook is that we never completely ‘arrive’ at perfection in life, and therefore all aspects need to be continually developed, exercised, and expanded. Since the architectural profession is one of continual change in technology and methodology, as well as in the types of work we do, Charles approaches it as a fluid process that demands growth and flexibility. Ultimately, architecture involves collaboration and communication with the purpose and goal of achieving tangible results that satisfy both the client and users of the facilities.
Charles is a Project Architect responsible for programming, design development, and quality control. He is also an experienced Project Manager, coordinating user and agency requirements with the design team, and specializing in planning and building code issues. Having worked on a wide variety of commercial, institutional, and residential projects, he is familiar with many types of construction and is able to anticipate potential construction problems during the design process. Being involved throughout the various phases of projects from inception through the design and documentation process, Charles finds that the completion of construction is especially rewarding.
Charles has enjoyed seeing architecture in many of the places where he has visited or traveled, including much of the western USA and Canada, the British Isles, southern Europe, the Caribbean, and as far away as Thailand and Eastern Australia. While these excursions have been entertaining and educational, they also provided much enrichment in formulating his philosophy and perspective on architecture.
